RHYTHM:

A Drummer’s Life

Rhythm and Sensation

Rhythm and sensation existed for hundreds of millions of years before drumming emerged in human history. Humans created drums as tools to express these rhythms and sensations as language. But as technology consumes our attention more and more, we are losing touch with the primary reason we play drums.

Befriending Your Practice presents an alternative- drumming focused on telling the origin story of our most essential human experience, rhythm and sensation. When we synthesize the beat of our hearts with our emotional state, we harness the dynamic power of rhythmic embodiment: the intersection of rhythm and sensation.

Rhythmic Embodiment

Rhythmic Embodiment synchronizes both the drummers’ internal rhythms and the audience, increasing the gravity of our resonance with others. connecting us all as rhythmic practitioners. When we engage in this feedback loop, we expand our consciousness into the deepest of all flow states -the groove.

This is the power of drumming.

My rollercoaster ride through 35 years of drumming gifted me with a voice and a story of resilience that I am ready to share. My dear fellow rhythmic practitioners, let us connect rhythm, body, and mind. Together.

  • 2010

Three weeks after this Bon Jovi wannabe photo, my life changed in an instant. I promised myself to turn my worst day into my best. I had no idea what this transformation would mean for me.

  • 2022

I turned the scars on my hands into badges of courage. This led me to a place of purpose. Why I am alive: To enable and empower greatness in others.
