Somatic Experiencing

As a student and a recipient of the applied embodiment trauma therapy, Somatic Experiencing (SE), my life as a drummer and a human has been transformed. When I Understanding the implications of this trauma therapy in my own life and practice has humbled and inspired me to give a voice for applied embodiment in drumming. My exposure to SE led me to experience applied embodiment’s pervasive positive impact on artistic performance.

I became aware of Betsy Polatin through her work with Peter Levine. She coordinates Alexander Technique and Somatic Experiencing in her artistic performance embodiment teaching and lecturing at Boston University and beyond. Betsy’s work inspired my seeking out an Alexander/SE practitioner for my healing. I am a first-hand witness to its transformative power in art and in life.
